The two title compounds have been prepared from sulfuric (A) or acetic (B) acid solution of CuSO4 and thiourea. Their crystal structure were determined from X ray diffractometer measurements. The crystal data are as follows: A: triclinic, space group P1, a = 13.863 (5), b = 13.385 (5), c = 10.251 (3)A, α = 68.56 (2), β = 70.11 (2), γ = 82.51 (2)°, V = 1664. 9 (1.0)A3 and Z = 2 for Dx = 2.03 Mg m−3. B: orthorhombic, Pbca, a = 35.487(12), b = 9.970(3), c = 33.147(10)A, V = 11727. 6(6.4)A3 and Z = 16 for Dx = 2.13 Mg m−3. In both compounds the cationic fragment Cu4S6 exhibits an adamantane-type structure. The anion H2(SO4)4 -3 of the A compound shows very short hydrogen bonds (2.43 A).
