Development and application of a performance evaluation model in medical devices

In 2015 through the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, generate a need to create performance assessments to medical equipment; this project develops a methodology to select the equipment that according to current standards should be subjected to performance evaluation; Establishing the process by which the frequency of evaluation and the economic viability of performing these evaluations by the entity or by contracting an external company; The necessary tests are designed and applied to different equipment to finally have the report where the state of operation of the equipment is determined. It was applied to vital signs monitor and electrosurgical unit obtaining enough data to adjust the tests and verify the correct functioning of the model and finally determining how this type of processes can increase patient safety and minimize adverse events due to the use of technology.
