Kalman Filter in Real Time for Indirect Measurement of Space Vehicle Position using a Reconfigurable Architecture

2005
This work presents an algorithm for real time hardware dedicated to space vehicles position's indirect measurement and its application in the flight security scheduling. This algorithm is based on Kalman filtering and it is implemented in a reconfigurable architecture. The algorithm is developed considering real time restrictions for position signals, acquisition system and the filter hardware characteristics satisfy the time deadlines of the tracking and algorithm's memory requirements. The simulations and experiments results are compared with position signals that comes from a Brazilian center of rocket launching's. The proposed algorithm presents a good performance, the measurements position values from the reconfigurable architecture and rocket tracking database have shown a smaller discrepancy after the filter stability period
