Simplified procedure for the use of solar energy in complying with the Colorado energy conservation standards for residential buildings

The history of the residential energy conservation code, subsequent training and trainee testing are described. Both code opportunities and code conflicts involving solar use are discussed. A simple equation for the use of solar in complying with the code is discussed. Possibly, ASHRAE 90-75 based codes (which may become equivalent to BEPS) could be modified to use such a simple approach.
