Familias vs. youtubers e instagammers. Adaptación del Alabama Parenting Questionnaire a la e la e-parentalidad en una muestra piloto

2021
The contemporary family must face new patterns of upbringing in a globalized, liquid, multi-screen society. The Alabama Parenting Questionnaire is one of the most widely used tools internationally to evaluate parenting practices and has been translated into over 9 languages. This article describes the process of design, validation and application of the adaptation of this questionnaire to a new parentality carried out by families in relation to the digital content transmitted to children by YouTubers, Instagrammers and influencers. The participants were 51 Spanish families. The methodology used was of a quantitative nature. The study examines the validity of the content of the questionnaire, as well as its reliability and validation. This is accomplished through an analysis of the items and their correlations as well as both a global exploratory factorial analysis and an analysis of each of the scales that make it up (parental involvement, positive upbringing, poor supervision, inconsistent discipline, appropriate discipline and severe discipline). The results show a factorial structure in accordance with the theoretical model and the one proposed by other researchers. The total reliability of the new questionnaire shows a Cronbach's Alpha of .897. Therefore, a new valid and reliable instrument is presented, one that accurately collects data on the variables that make up e-parenting.
