Modeling and Analysis of Vehicle Transmissions in Modelica/Dymola Environment

2002
This paper presents a systematic model for the analysis of vehicle automatic transmissions. The characteristics of powertrain components are formulated either based on experimental data or by models in the Modelica/Dymola library. The integrated vehicle model is used to simulate the shift dynamics of vehicle transmissions and the overall vehicle performance under various operation conditions. Transient variables such as clutch apply pressure, transmission output torque, shift time, etc., and their influence on shift quality are quantitatively analyzed for various transmission shift processes based on model simulation. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the powertrain model as an analysis and calibration tool for the development of powertrain control systems.Copyright © 2002 by ASME
