Improving Energy Self-Consumption Rate in Renewable Energy System A study using a robust optimization method considering uncertainty of power generation

2018
Under the state of the grid parity, improvement the energy self-consumption rate is crucial in terms of economy of power procurement. Power supply systems consisting of solar power generations and storage batteries are being utilized not only for efficiently using of the renewable energy but also as backup power supplies. In these systems, the battery capacity for backup must always be ensured. Therefore, the actual self-consumption rate will become smaller than that which can be expected with the capacity of the installed storage battery. In this work, we report the experimental results of a method that the battery capacity for backup is controlled using a robust optimization that considers the uncertainty of the power generation forecasting.
