Antitumor Effect and Chemical Constitutes of the Petroleum ether Fraction from the Rhizome of Alocasia cucullatta(Lour.) Schott

2012
The inhibition effects of the extracts of the rhizome of Alocasia cucullata(Lour.) Schott with different solvents on five human tumor cells(M-GC803,Hela,bel7402,K-562 and MDA-MB-435) were investigated. The results showed that the 50% ethanol extract had a stronger inhibition effect. The further study showed that the petroleum ether fraction from 50% ethanol extract had a significant inhibition effect on M-GC803 cells(IC50=121 μg/ml).Among the forty three ingredients whose content accounted for the top five were as follows:(Z,Z)-9,12-octadecadienoic acid(23.59%), hexadecanoic acid(18.91%),3-pentadecylphenol(15.51%),(Z,Z,Z)-9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid(9.09%) and 3'-methoxybenzo[1',2'-b]-1,4-diazabicyclooctene(5.18%).
