Design of 2D IIR filters with canonical signed-digit coefficients using genetic algorithm

2003
In this paper, genetic algorithm is used to design 2D octagonal symmetric IIR filters. The transfer function has nonseparable numerator and separable denominator polynomials in z/sub 1/ and z/sub 2/, and the designed filters have canonical signed-digit (CSD) coefficients. A new CSD number restoration technique is presented to ensure that the algorithm generates CSD coefficients with the pre-specified wordlength and maximum number of nonzero digits.
