Integrated Petrophysical and Seismic Analysis in the Facies Modeling - Case Study

2019
Summary This paper presents integration of petrophysical and electrofacies classification in the wells across the field, seismic inversion results and sedimentological analysis including facies identification and building the geological model which captures interpreted reservoir properties predominantly porosity. An integrated workflow includes petrophysical analysis, electrofacies classification, seismic inversion, seismo-stratigraphy analysis, conceptual sedimentological model and finally geological model. The electrofacies classification has been performed by rock clustering which is based on similar petrophysical properties using the principle of neural networks. In order to capture reservoir heterogeneity away from well control the integration of seismic inverted properties is critical in guiding the facies modeling and subsequent porosity population. Results are validated by comparing relative distribution observed on logs and impedance volume. This integrated analysis enabled better understanding of reservoir quality changes.
