Abstracts of the 1996 European Aerosol Conference The sampling station is mainly formed by an automatic isokinetic sampler and an optical particlesizer for the micron range and an electrostatic classifier for the submicron one (SMPS). Numericaland morphological information is alsoextracted using scanning electron microscopy photographsandthe elemental composition from an electron probe X-ray microanalysis. Particle mass concentrationand aerodynamic distribution were measured by means of filters and cascade impactors. In this study the effect the acoustic field has been tested with 2 and 4 transducers. With 2transducers, it has been used frequencies of 10 and 20 kHz and a power of 400 w. With 4transducers. it has been used the same frequencies and powers of 400 and 80 w. The results withboth frequencies have been similar: 40 % of reduction in the particle number concentration and 37% in the mass concentration (figure 2). ~ J 20kHz L Ii J" Cone (WNm3) • ConeMle(Pw1Nc:m3l • Cone 6ub (Pw/NCm3l
