The invention discloses adsorbent capable of adsorbing to remove industrial wastewater containing dimethylacetamide and a preparation method of the adsorbent. The adsorbent is made from 80-100 parts of coal ash and activated carbon in a weight ratio of 3:1, and 20-40 parts of sodium silicate. Composition and weight ratio of the adsorbent are screened by massive tests, and massive tests show that the adsorbent is economical and environment-friendly and has fine function of adsorbing and removing dimethylacetamide with the removal rate reaching more than 85%. The adsorbent is widely applicable to treatment of dimethylacetamide industrial wastewater, the defects of high cost, low adsorption removal rate and the like in the prior art can be overcome, and the adsorbent has important social benefit.
