Study on Exhaust Heat Recovery Utilizing Organic Rankine Cycle for Diesel Engine at Full-load Conditions

2013
In this paper, organic rankine cycle (ORC) system was utilized to recover diesel engine exhaust heat. The performance of ORC was discussed under the full-load conditions of diesel engine. The results indicate that when the turbine inlet temperature is 450 K, the max network of ORC is 15.09 kW at the speed of 1,599 r/min, and the diesel power increased by 6.17 %. At the same speed, the network of ORC reduces as increasing as the turbine inlet temperature when the exhaust heat changes. The proper range of the exhaust temperature leaving the evaporator is 373–383 K. At last, the diesel engine power increases by about 6 % under the full-load conditions of the diesel engine, and the relationship between the network of ORC and the diesel engine power was given in this chapter.
