Mobile Performance Enhancement via Tracking Inter-Carrier Interference Power for ATSC 3.0 Receivers

2020
This paper reveals a mobile performance enhancement at the Advanced Television System Committee (ATSC) 3.0 receivers, which can be achieved by estimating inter-carrier interference (ICI) level via velocity tracking. The proposed scheme aims at the mobile receivers mounted in mass-teleportation vehicles, which can acquire velocity information from external sources. Through extensive simulations, the proposed scheme is verified to reduce the threshold of visibility (ToV) requirement, even when the velocity information is given imperfect. Specifically, the proposed scheme is found to achieve 1.3 dB ToV gain for 5.85 Mbps throughput signal under 6-tap typical urban (TU-6) channel with 200 km/h velocity.
