A simulation and training system for active distribution network

This paper presents a simulation and training system for active distribution network. The core modules of this system include distribution system simulator and support platform. In the distribution system simulator, the detailed three phase models of primary equipment including DGs and secondary equipment, such as protective relay and feeder automation devices, are all developed. The functions of steady-state simulation and fault-state simulation method are implemented for normal and fault operation conditions respectively. In the steady-state simulation, a three-phase dynamic load flow considering DGs is achieved. While in the fault-state simulation, fault current calculation, the operation of protective relay and feeder automation equipment are all realized. The support platform includes event handler, simulation scenario manager and man-machine interface etc. which provide an interactive environment to control the simulation procedure.
