Architecture Design and Evaluation of Hybrid AC/DC Power Grids Based on Power Electronic Transformer

This paper presents the architecture design and evaluation method of power electronic transformer (PET) based hybrid AC/DC power grids. The architecture design is carried out from two aspects: one is AC/DC hybrid substation wiring mode, and the other is PET based DC grid topology. Then the benefit evaluation of different architecture is established, including maximum power supply capacity, power supply reliability, and fault operation characteristics. Finally, all these operation performances of three typical architectures are compared and analyzed.
