Semiochemicals: A Green Approach to Pest and Disease Control

2020
Abstract Chemical communication plays a vital role for the survival of insects. This communication empowers them to assess prompt environment through behavioral changes. Semiochemicals are organic substances that are utilized by insects to pass explicit synthetic messages that help to modify physiology or behavior. These substances are utilized by insects to locate food source, mate, or host, avoid natural enemies, stay away from rivalry, and defeat of their host's natural defense systems. In this chapter, we will have an overview about semiochemicals extraction, advantage and disadvantage, classification, and mechanism of action.
