AISI 316L CORROSION FATIGUE TESTS IN Pb-17Li ENVIRONMENT, FIRST RESULTS

1993
Low cycle fatigue tests in a flowing lithium lead environment on AISI 316L steel specimens are in progress at the Brasimone Research Center. The tests are performed in a strain control mode using a new design of extensometer able to operate directly in liquid lithium lead. The tests are carried out using a triangular wave form with a frequency of 3.3 × 10 −3 Hz and a temperature of 723 K. The specimens used in this study had an hourglass shape. Some reference tests have been performed in argon at 723 K, while at present a first test in lithium lead has been performed.
