How do CSR and EO relate to the efficiency of food processing enterprises? Endogenous production inefficiency stochastic frontier analysis

2021
Despite the growing interest research in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and entrepreneurial orientation (EO), it is unclear that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) should concern about the adoption of CSR strategies. This research analyses the effects of CSR and EO on the firm efficiency of SMEs. Data were collected from a survey of 838 food processing enterprises in Vietnam and analysed by using the Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier production function. The results confirm that the EO has a significant relationship with firm efficiency. However, we do not find strong evidence for the relationship between CSR and firm efficiency.
