Localized magnons in a linear Heisenberg ferromagnet with an antiferromagnetic impurity spin

Abstract The ground state and low-lying excited states of a linear Heisenberg ferromagnet with an antiferromagnetic impurity were calculated for S = 1 2 and 1. Our theoretical predictions were confirmed by numerical calculations for a ring consisting of twelve spins.
