Structure, dielectric and electrical properties of lead-free (BiFeO3)1-x (Bi0.5K0.5TiO3)x solid solution

2017
ABSTRACTPhase-pure ferroelectric ceramics of (BFO)1-x(KBT)x (x = 0.0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.2) have been prepared through conventional solid state reaction method. The perovskite structure and existence of structural transition have been confirmed through X-Ray diffraction analysis. Dielectric measurements of (BFO)1-x(KBT)x samples have been carried out in a wide range of frequency (100 −1 MHz) and temperature between 30 and 500°C. Polarization Vs electric field measurements on (BFO)1-x(KBT)x (x = 0.05 and 0.1) compositions showed better PE response than (BFO)1-x(KBT)x (x = 0). While, compositions corresponding to (BFO)1-x(KBT)x (x = 0.15 and 0.2) showed poor and leaky loop due to existence of structural transition from rhombohedral (polar) to orthorhombic (non-polar) phase. Further, Leakage current characteristics of all compositions have been studied.
