Tabletop Synchrotron Light Source
2014
Hard x-rays, soft x-rays, extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiations, and far-infrared (FIR) radiations are generated by a tabletop electron storage ring of electron energies 1, 4, 6, and 20 MeV. The orbit radius of these storage rings is 8 cm for the 1–6 MeV machines and 15 cm for the 20 MeV machine. We discuss in this chapter how we could downsize the storage ring, how we could generate hard x-rays by only 1 MeV normal conducting storage ring, how x-ray beam is bright, how to generate intense FIR beam, and the angular distribution of EUV radiations. Results of applications in the field of medicine, nondestructive testing, structure analysis, and spectroscopy are demonstrated.
