Determination of switching field distribution and easy axis distribution in metal particle tape

The primary aim of this paper is to investigate the anomolously wide switching field distribution found in these metal particle prototype MAGSTAR tape. The magnetic texture of four samples, in which the degree of orientation is varied, are investigated by measuring the variation of remanent magnetisation with the angle of applied field in the sample plane. This behaviour is then used to obtain a measure of the magnetostatic interactions and texture within the samples. The macroscopic magnetic properties of the samples are then described in terms of the interactions and texture.
