Growth and properties of Bi2−xPbxSr2Ca2Cu3Oy thin crystals by KCI flux method

Abstract High Quality single phase Bi 2−x Pb x Sr 2 Ca 2 Cu 3 O y platelets have been grown by KCl flux method. Lead doping was achieved by adding to the melt lead oxide. It was found that by this method the maximum lead content in the structure of the platelets (in atoms per formula unit) can be 0.16. Lead doping was found as expected to increase the critical transition temperature of the crystals. A similar increase was also found to result from the thermal treatment in oxygen atmosphere.
