Analysis of Causes of Postoperative Recurrence after Implantation of Artificial Lacrimal Duct

2012
Objective To investigate the causes of recurrence of lacrimal duct obstruction after the implantation of artificial lacrimal duct. Methods 66 cases(76 eyes)with lacrimal duct obstruction receiving artificially tear duct implantation were observed,follow-up of 1-3 years. Results The operation was ineffective in 3 eyes out of 30 dacryocystitis eyes, accounting for 4%,in 3 eyes out of 14 lacrimal duct obstruction eyes accounting for 4%;effective in the remaining 32 eyes. The operation was ineffective in 6 eyes out of the 15 eyes with over 2 obstruction nodes;effective in the remaining 61 eyes. The operation was ineffective in 6 eyes out of 24 eyes associated with nasal diseases;effective in the remaining 52 eyes. The ineffective rate of cases with multiple-node obstruction and/or nasal diseases was obviously higher than the cases with single obstruction site and no nasal diseases with statistical significance. Conclusion Dacryocystitis, lacrimal duct obstruction, and obstruction of multi-node etc.are the main causes of recurrence of artificial tear ducts implantation.
