Cobertura de enfermería, mortalidad y úlceras por presión en México

Introduction: Pressure ulcers are a challenge for all health personnel, to achieve an impact on their prevention and treatment requires commitment, dedication and resources. Objective: To analyze the coverage of nursing personnel and its impact on mortality from pressure ulcers in Mexico. Material and methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, analytical and correlational study in which the nursing coverage index by federal entity is analyzed and its relation with the mortality by pressure ulcers in the year 2015 taking as a source the INEGI mortality data base, simple and relative frequencies were calculated, as well as some statistics of association and significance using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Results: There are diametrical differences in nursing coverage ranging from 1.24 in the State of Mexico to 3.97 nurses per thousand inhabitants in Mexico City. There were 724 deaths of the L89 code according to the ICD-10. The statistical analysis shows significance in nursing coverage, frequency by federal entity and mortality rate in relation to unfavorable conditions in right holders, scholarship and occupation. Conclusions: Linking nursing care coverage with sociodemographic and mortality indicators is a way to help improve the quality of care, as well as the decision making for a better public health policy
