DOI: 10.1590/2179-8966/2019/36241 Resumo O presente trabalho pretende tecer algumas notas epistemologicas acerca do processo de criacao do conhecimento. Primeiramente, discutimos o saber cientifico pelo que ele tem historicamente sido em contraposicao ao que chamamos de um conhecimento cientifico autocritico. Depois, inspirados no debate dos Direitos Humanos e nos ensinamentos de Lyra Filho, apresentamos dois movimentos metodicos que julgamos essenciais para compreender a complexidade de qualquer objeto social: a totalizacao e contradicao da realidade. Abstract The present work seeks to summarize some epistemological remarks about the creation of knowledge. Firstly, we discuss the scientifical thought by what it has historically been against what we call autocritical scientifical knowledge.  After that, inspired by our background in Human Rights Theory and by Lyra Filho's teachings, we present two methodical moments that we feel as essential to grasp the complexity of any social object: the totalization and contradiction of reality.
