Weight Minimization of LCL Filters for Aircraft Variable Frequency Starter/Generator System Based on Simplified Constraints Multi-Objective Models

2018
The LCL filter is an attractive candidate for harmonic suppression in diode front-end rectifier topology which is becoming increasingly popular for modern aircraft variable frequency WRSM starter/generator system. In this paper, the detailed simplified constraints multi-objective model is proposed to facilitate the design process of LCL filter. The voltage characteristics are completely discussed for the whole starting process, and the “worst case” point is deduced according to the transfer function. Thereafter, a practical multi-objective model is obtained to achieve weight reduction considering comprehensively harmonic standards, DC-link voltage range. Modeling, simulations validation is performed on an aircraft variable frequency WRSM starter/generator system platform to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.
