Who are More Concerned About the ROI, Academics or Firms?

Return on investment has long been used as the performance measure technique. It can be used as both capital expenditure evaluation technique and internal performance evaluation technique. Problem arises to define the most appropriate formula and also to define the numerators and denominators of any specific formula. This article discusses some sources of cofusions regarding ROI - both in academic field and in practice. It is evident that academics are more concerned about the cultured use of ROI unlike the firms who, "due to lack of utility", are not in position in elegant use of ROI.
