Simultaneous Determination of Nickel, Cobalt, Cadmium, Lead and Copper by Adsorptive Voltammetry Using 1-Phenylpropane-1-Pentylsulfonylhydrazone-2-Oxime as a Chelating Agent

1997
A method for the simultaneous determination of Ni, Co, Cd, Pb, Cu by adsorptive voltammetry was developed using 1-phenylpropane-1-pentylsulfonylhydrazone-2- oxime as a selective complexing agent. All five metals gave peaks that were distinctly separated by 120–220 mV, allowing their determination over a wide range of concentrations. The influence of pH, nature of the supporting electrolytes, preconcentration time and applied potential were investigated. The detection limits vary in the range 0.06–1.20 ppb, and the RSD at a concentration level of 7.81 ppb, varies in the range 2.7–5.2%. The method was applied to natural water samples.
