NEW PROPOSAL FOR LNG TRANSPORT: PRESSURIZED AT INTERMEDIATE TEMPERATURE

1978
An amount equal to 10 per cent of the LNG transported by tanker is consumed as fuel in the initial liquefaction plant, simply in lowering the temperature of the product through the final 130 degree F. A proposal that the product should be transported as a pressurized liquid at intermediate temperature is put forward by the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. The principle and proposed new design of LNG tanker are described in this article.
