New emerging green technologies for sustainable textiles

2021
Abstract The 21st century is an era of science emphasizing the preferable use of green technologies keeping in view the harmful effects associated with conventional technologies for sustainable textiles. These green technologies have brought the world with innovative dimensions of success with their major use in textiles, unique materials, and biomass in textiles such as highly tensile, distinctive superficial structure, dye capability, self-cleansing stuff, fire-resistant materials, UV shielding, antimicrobial, crease confrontation, stain proof, water-repulsive nature, permanency, etc. Such technologies have transfigured the fabric production that is an elementary constituent of the design and fashion industry. In the current time, a new era in all these productions is going to report sustainable development and progress. Various textiles unit operations are categorized by a massive ingesting of water, chemicals, energy, etc. The noxious waste discharged from these practices is enriched with unused dyes and many other chemicals which is an alarming threat to aquatic biota. However, the turning of the industry toward green technologies is a dire need of current time to avoid our environment from toxic effects of industrial effluents; hence it will be a great positive input for a safe and healthy life on earth. The main focus of this chapter is to highlight and compare among different types of green technologies for sustainable textile products.
