A novel approach for harvesting of the microalgae Chlorella vulgaris with Moringa oleifera extracts microspheres by Buoy-bead flotation method

Abstract Harvesting technology has exhibited a significant influence on the microalgal biomass industry. This study develops a buoy-bead flotation method and analyzes the factors affecting flotation. Besides, the mechanism of Moringa oleifera extracts microspheres (MOEMs) to improve the harvesting efficiency is also investigated. The experimental results demonstrated that a maximum harvesting efficiency of 89.13% was achieved at pH 7. It was revealed that the pH factor played an important role on harvesting efficiency, while ionic strength (
