Endometrial thickness with in-vitro fertilization: a meta-analysis

2019
Abstract Research Question This meta-analysis aimed to explore whether endometrial thickness (EMT) could predict pregnancy outcomes after in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Moreover, the associations of EMT with the incidence of pregnancy outcomes according to study and individual characteristics were also assessed. Design Studies evaluating the associations of EMT with the incidence of pregnancy rate, implantation rate, abortion rate, live birth or ongoing pregnancy rate, ectopic pregnancy rate in individuals after IVF were enrolled by searching the PubMed, EmBase, and the Cochrane library (from their inception up to December 2018). The pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were employed and calculated using the random-effects model. Results Nine prospective and 21 retrospective studies including a total of 88,056 cycles were retrieved. The summary OR indicated that women with lower EMT was associated with lower incidence of pregnancy rate than those with higher EMT (OR:0.61; 95%CI:0.52-0.70; P Conclusions These findings suggested that lower EMT was associated with lower incidence of pregnancy rate, implantation rate, and live birth or ongoing pregnancy rate.
