In situ deaminization reaction of the D-3-(4-Pyridyl)-alanine: A chiral zigzag chain and a five-fold interpenetrated diamondoid network

2012
Abstract The reaction of Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O/Zn(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O and D-3-(4-Pyridyl)-alanine (Hpyala) without or with 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) leads to the generation of two new coordination polymers, [Cu(pyala) 2 ]·H 2 O ( 1 ) and [Zn(4-pyridylacrylate) 2 ]·H 2 O ( 2 ). Interestingly, the 4-pyridyacrylate ligand was derived from the in situ deaminization of the D-3-(4-Pyridyl)-alanine under the hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies indicate that 1 exhibits a one-dimensional (1D) chiral chain structure; 2 exhibits 3D framework with 5-fold interpenetrated diamondoid topology, which contains open channels occupied by the lattice water molecules.
