Technological characterization of particleboards made with sugarcane bagasse and bamboo culm particles

2020
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the technological properties of particleboards manufactured from sugarcane and bamboo particles. Three mix proportions (25%, 50% and 75%) and control particleboards (100% bamboo or residue) were adopted. Panels manufactured with 75% bamboo particles and 25% bagasse particles achieved the values required by the norm for thickness swelling in 24 h and internal bond. The highest compaction ratio enabled the formation of densitometric profiles with more pronounced peaks on the faces, as evidenced by the images, reduced wettability and increased the mass loss caused by brown rot fungi.
