Study the performance of different varieties and suitable variety of linseed for growing under irrigated condition of eastern U.P

2020
A field experiment was carried out at Crop Research Station, Masodha, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Narendra Nagar Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) during Rabi season of 2015-16, to study the performance of newly evolved varieties of linseed under irrigated condition of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. 12 varieties viz. NARENDRA ALSI-1, NDL-2004-19, NARENDRA ALSI-3, NARENDRA ALSI-4, NDL-2015-05, NDL-2015-06, NDL-2015-07, NDL-2015-08, NDL-2015-09, NDL-2015-10, NDL-2015-11 and SHEKHAR were grown for evaluation. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design with three replications on silt loam soil having low organic carbon (0.32%) and nitrogen (180.0 kg ha-1), medium in phosphorus (14.2 kg ha-1) and potassium (230.10kg ha-1) with 7.8 pH. The initial plant population was not influenced significantly due to different varieties. The plant height was significantly higher with variety SHEKHAR (84.70cm) which was at par with variety NARENDRA ALSI-4, dry matter accumulation was significantly higher with variety SHEKHAR which was at par with variety NARENDRA ALSI-4, and Leaf area index was significantly higher with the variety SHEKHAR which was at par with variety NARENDRA ALSI-4 and number of primary and secondary branches plant-1 were also significantly higher in variety SHEKHAR. The yield contributing characters like number of capsules plant-1 was significantly higher with variety SHEKHAR, number of seeds capsule-1 was highest with variety NDL-2015-06 which was at par with varieties NDL-2004-19, and NDL-2015-07. Seed yield (q ha-1), stalk yield (q ha-1) and total biomass was recorded significantly higher with variety SHEKHAR whereas test weight (1000- seed weight in g) were not influenced significantly due to different varieties of linseed.
