Temperature Dependence in Adsorption of Benzene-Cyclohexane Mixtures on NaY Zeolite

1982
Adsorption of binary liquid mixtures of benzene and cyclohexane on NaY zeolite has been studied at . In this work, the individual adsorption isotherms were obtained on the assumption that the number of moles and the compositions of the adsorbed phase did not change when a little amount of cyclohexane, which is a poor-adsorption adsorbate, was added to the solution in the adsorption equilibrium. Benzene was preferentially adsorbed on NaY zeolite, and the individual adsorption isotherms showed the Langmuir type. A long period of time was required for the adsorption equilibrium to be established at lower temperatures. With temperature increase, surface excess and the amounts of adsorption for each component were decreased but the adsorption selectivity of benzene was increased.
