Examination of submissive acts and learned resourcefulness conditions of nurses

The purpose of this study was to determine
the relationship between the submissive behaviours
and self control skills (learned resourcefulness) of
nurses. This descriptive study conducted in Gulhane
Military Medical Academy and 130 nurses willing to
participate in study were included. “Rosenbaum’s
Learned Resourcefulness Schedule (RLRS)”, “Submissive
Acts Scale (SAS)”, and “Descriptive Characteristics
Tools” were used to collect data. Point range
of RLRS is between 36-180 and point range of SAS is
between 16-80. Average age of the nurses was 30.4
years old and average work experience of them was 9
years. 66.9 % of the nurses have graduated from two
years nursing program after high school. Mean submissive
acts point of the nurses were 31 (sd ± 7.27)
and mean learned resourcefulness point of the nurses
were 120 (sd ± 18.4). In conclusion submissive acts
points of the nurses were low and self control skills
(learned resourcefulness) points were high.
