Rather, the following sections will concentrate specifically on those growth factor receptors that have been identified and characterised in human placental tissues. We will discuss receptor structure, the mechanisms of transmembrane signalling, the cellular consequences of receptor triggering and the variations in receptor content that occur during gestation.
