Structure and electrical properties of solid solution Li[Ni0.5Mn0.5]1−xCoxPO4 (1 ≥ x ≥ 0)

Abstract Crystal structure, anti-site defects and electrical properties of Li[Ni 0.5 Mn 0.5 ] 1−x Co x PO 4 (1 ≥ x ≥ 0) derived from the ternary triangle of LiNiPO 4 -LiCoPO 4 -LiMnPO 4 were investigated. XRD analysis had confirmed that all the synthesised samples formed a full solid solution with the orthorhombic structure symmetry. Systematic analysis using Rietveld refinements showed that the anti-site defects were reasonably low about 2–5% depending to Ni, Mn and Co ratios even the samples were placed at 1000 °C for 12 h. Furthermore, there is no evidence that anti-site defects affected by cooling conditions.
