Preliminary investigation of the relationship between enteric bacteria and character of feces.

2010
[Objective] To investigate the relationship between enteric bacteria and the morphological character of feces. [Methods] The feces of volunteers were divided into three grades. Numbers of six kinds of bacteria: Escherichia coli, Enterococcus, Bacteroid, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus bifidus and Bacterium lacticum in the feces, were counted with culture method. The numbers and the ratios of each kind of bacteria were compared for different grades of feces. [Results] Among the three grades of feces, there was no statistical difference between the statistical indexes of sample grade III and the former two ones (P﹥0.05). But most statistical indexes of sample grade I and II showed a significant statistical difference (P﹤ 0.05). [Conclusion] There is a relationship between enteric bacteria and the character of feces. The number of human enteric bacteria can be estimated based on the character of feces. And it can to some extent reflect the health status of human.
