Projection system and method for manufacturing intermediate image screen of projection system

The present invention provides a projection system including a drawing device and an intermediate image screen. The drawing device creates an image on the intermediate image screen. The projected image is displayed with the light reflecting from the intermediate image screen. The intermediate image screen includes a layer where a cholesteric liquid crystalline phase is fixed. The intermediate image screen causes diffuse reflection in a wavelength region where the above-mentioned layer exhibits selective reflection. The projection system according to the present invention creates a projected image having high luminance and high resolution. The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an intermediate image screen suited to the projection system, the method including forming of the layer with the fixed cholesteric liquid crystalline phase by applying and curing a liquid crystal composition containing polymerizable liquid crystalline compounds on the surface of an isotropic resin layer that is a hardened layer of non-liquid crystalline polymerizable composition containing a (meth) acrylate monomer.
