Comparative analysis of power definitions in nonsinusoidal conditions — A case study

2018
Several proposals have been presented over the years in order to better characterize electrical power in a scenario far from sinusoidal ideality. Based on this, this work evaluated six of the main power theories for nonsinusoidal systems. For this purpose, four scenarios of electrical systems were adopted to quantify the power parcels inherent to each theory, such as active and reactive values. The results showed that the reactive power values are particular to each theory and may be smaller than the residual portion of the non-active power.
