ADVANCED COMMUTER TRAIN USING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The East Japan Railway Company has progressed the development of next generation commuter vehicles called AC-Train (Advanced Commuter Train). The main aims of this development are improved passenger services, greater reliability, an improvement in transport, and a decrease in life-cycle costs. A major system overhaul of the vehicle structure has been conducted in order to accomplish these changes. This paper reports on the state of progress concerning the most current test vehicle.
