Communication quality control scheme by using priority control mechanism for ethernet‐based wireless LANs

2003
A method that realizes CoS (Class of Service) control in Ethernet is communication quality control based on the user priority specified by IEEE 802.1D Annex H. This paper presents a result of investigation of CoS control scheme in IEEE 802.11 system, which is Ethernet wireless LAN standardized by IEEE 802 Committee. An evaluation is also tried by computer simulation, and it is found that the bounded delay time and the bandwidth guarantee are realized, providing the best effort with higher priority in the contention control. It is also shown that the proposed scheme can be used as protection against the user who sends/receives a large amount of data, constraining the bandwidth. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
