NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF BIPOLAR SINGLE-GRID ENERGY ANALYZERS

In the present work the numerical simulation and experimental investigation of processes inside a bipolar singlegrid energy analyzer during low energy ion beam analysis is conducted. The simulation using a numerical PIC-code show the possibility of hysteresis at the bidirectional measurement of the collector current-voltage traces during low energy ion beam analysis due to formation of secondary plasma between the analyzer grid and collector. The existence of hysteresis at the low ion energy (<50 eV) has been confirmed by the experimental measurements. PACS: 52.70.Nc
