Wohngebäude für Menschen mit Behinderungen : Ist für deren architektonische Planung die DIN-Norm 18025' eine ausreichende Grundlage?

1999
The objective of architects in the field of planning and design of social and health care buildings is to work on particular needs of people who need help or care. Architects should develop structures which compensate individual handicaps. So a self-determined living and the integration in society are to be guaranteed. Some important rules for planning and design of dwellings for people with handicaps are put together in the DIN standard 18 025 - accessible dwellings. This article is about forms of handicaps and of their consequences on the built environment. It gives a survey about the content of the DIN standard and its purpose. Based on the analysis of the DIN standard and on the research results at the Chair of Social and Health Care Buildings, possibilities for the further development of the DIN standard are shown.
