Synthesis of 4,5‐Disubstituted 1H‐1,3,4,5‐Tetrahydrobenz[cd]indole Derivatives

Tetrahydrobenz[cd]indole derivatives (51–54) were synthesized from 4-iodo-3-(2′-nitroethyl)indole (10) via palladium-catalysed coupling with acetylenes followed by a thiol addition, an oxidation and an intramolecular Michael-addition.
