GATAC - Version 3 of the Generic Framework for Multi-Parameter Optimization of Flight Trajectories

2013
Modelling, simulation and optimisation require the use of various models. The interfacing and connectivity of such models typically requires extensive programming effort and multi-disciplinary skills that may not be readily available in most industrial and academic environments. This challenge has been a main driver for the development of a new integration framework called GATAC within the Clean Sky programme. GATAC is designed to enable different partners and users to easily integrate their own models to set up in the framework and then run trajectory optimisation cases, allowing them to conduct optimisation studies using the framework without the need to have indepth knowledge of software interfacing issues. With the development programme starting in 2008, a number of releases of GATAC have now been issued. This paper discusses the latest improvements in the framework that feature in the release of Version 3.
